Swedish Keyboard Layout

Fri Sep 05, 2014 6:24 pm

Hi!
I'm trying to make myself more comfortable with Arch Linux in the Raspberry Pi and it's coming on well. The biggest problem right now is how to get a Swedish Keyboard Layout to work in Arch Linux for Raspberry Pi. I've tried tons of tutorials on the net but I can't get it to work. Since the Swedish language has nine vowels it's quite important to have the correct keyboard layout to get the best out of the latest libreoffice which I've installed together with the latest Firefox. So, please if someone has a hint how to make it work, give me some help. I'm a selflearned Linux guy (actually a "distro junkie") and now my mind is set on Arch Linux for the RPi. Thanks beforehand!
Kind Regards,

Hi elatllat!

Thanks for your effort to help! Actually I have this webpage bookmarked already. I must clarify my problem. The problem is that I, as a noobie when it comes to Arch Linux, is using a GUI, LXDE to be exact and that is what makes it a problem, I think. It seems to me that the keyboard layout for X11 is set in another way. So the proper question should be how to set a Swedish keyboard that works in X11. Using the command '#localectl status' gives the answer n/a on the X11 line. Maybe the problem lies in that I just have a root account at present. Don't know actually so if you or anyone else inclined would point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful.

Sincerely Yours,
dslmeo

Hi again!

Thanks! I just found the same information some hours ago and will poke around and see if I can get it to work as it's supposed to. Just made a backup image of my 8 GB micro sd card to save the progress I've made so far. Flashed it on a 32 GB caŕd that refuses to expand the root partition. So I think I'll try to make the last partition I made (over 22 GB) to automount. We'll see if I can make it tomorrow. Thanks again.

I have just used this thread and the guides provided to get the Swedish keyboard on my Raspbian.

Thank You!
