New archlinuxarm rootfs Jan 2013

Tue Jan 22, 2013 4:48 pm

I have made it and will be put on download page soon.
Anyone want to test now?
Some important notes-
It's 30Mb bigger (compresses) as /opt/vc/src was requested
Sould fit on all 2Gb cards (1850 x 1M blocks)
Network is netcfg, to change to static ip just edit one file (/etc/network.d/ethernet-eth0), should make wireless easier too
There are dosfs tools, and parted
These are the settings

Code: Select all

/boot/cmdline.txt
smsc95xx.turbo_mode=N dwc_otg.lpm_enable=0 console=ttyAMA0,115200 kgdboc=ttyAMA0,115200 console=tty1 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootfstype=ext4 elevator=noop rootwait

/boot/config.txt
gpu_mem_512=316
gpu_mem_256=128
cma_lwm=16
cma_hwm=32
cma_offline_start=16
Memory on 256 machine will be 215564k and xbmc will still run
BTW there is a problem with glibc, reported upstream, to start xbmc it's this until fixed

Code: Select all

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/vc/lib/ xbmc

Awesome, thanks!

Does xbmc work currently? Last time I checked (a few days ago), the xbmc-rpi-git package failed a dependency check; libcdio had updated upstream, and broke the dynamic linking. I kludged mine back into working by compiling the needed libcdio file from an old tarball, but it's a short term workaround.

Where's that? I only see xbmc-git in AUR. Did you mean this one?

It's installed with
pacman -Sy xbmc-rbp-git

I got download links for rootfs

Yes, I know arch is a rolling release and there is no need to actually use, it saves download of updates and has easier method of making static ip. Plus file system tools installed.

Swap on flash media is very bad idea, except for shortest of times.
You can create a swap file, it is as good as swap partition
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Swap#Swap_file

Return to “Arch”
