Is a Raspberry Pi Model 3B v1.2 incompatible with this Version of Archlinux-ARM:
http://os.archlinuxarm.org/os/ArchLinux ... est.tar.gz ?

I thought the Model 3b was ARMv8

Yes quite so, but it can run ARMv7 OS, though Arch do offer a ARM64 release:

Yes.
It is ARMv8 and can be 32-bit (ARM) or 64-bit Aarch64.

I wonder why the ARM64 release doesn't work on my device? I suppose it hasn't got anything to do with bus width scince it's the ARM architecture.
