Installing a desktop on Arch ARM

I installed Arch ARM on an sd card and am able to boot to a login. i can login as root. trying to install a desktop. ive tried many things and they all failed. any ideas ? thanks

Is Arch still included with NOOBS ? doesnt seem to be anymore.

after I install lxde-common, how to boot into it ?

1/ install xf86-video-fbdev
2/ don't run X as root

Do you have a screen attached or VNC installed? PuTTY by itself is not going to render a desktop.
