Arch and my router/DNS

I've noticed that Arch does not play well with my router, which is my LAN's DNS. All of my other machines - including several Pis (all running various versions of Raspbian) do play nice.
What I mean is that my Arch Pi, with hostname "alarmpi" (didn't see any good reason to change it), does not show up in my router's IP table - and cannot be pinged/accessed by name by the other machines on the LAN. Further, the Arch machine cannot access/ping other machines by name either.
As I said, for all the other machines, this all works as expected.
Is this a known issue with Arch? Can it be fixed?
