rpi-youtube

Sat Aug 13, 2016 4:10 pm

Has anyone managed to get the rpi-youtube suite working in Arch?
Some key differences:
--There is no omxplayerGUI, just the terminal version.
--Also, no pacman version of the rip-youtube package ... is this different than the browser extension of the same name?
--I can't seem to start the youtube-dl server per the instructions of the rip-chromium page, although I don't know if that matters.
--Is it ok that Arch is running a newer version of Chromium?

Thanks for any help/insight.

I don't support arch so I really can't do anything and I have no idea what is going wrong. You installed kweb?

youtube-dl is in repositories

https://archlinuxarm.org/packages/any/youtube-dl

Yes Arch Linux Arm is quite different from Raspbian (Debian) best to build packages which are not in Repository from Source Code.

If you install youtube-dl from repositories, make sure that it can be updated via

sudo youtube-dl -U

since the program is updated about every 30 seconds it seems like. I don't know if arch is kept more up to date than debian stuff but it would be hard not to be.

Return to “Arch”
