TP Link TL-WN821NV3 Wifi on arch

Mon Aug 06, 2012 7:46 pm

Hi all,
I am using a fresh Arch image (13-06) on my Pi.
I try to set up the TP-LINK TL-WN821N USB wifi adapter.
I connect it with a powered usb hub to my pi.
When I boot with the dongle connected, the ath9k_htc is loaded (checked with lsmod)
However when I try to bring the wlan0 interface up, the console hangs.
ip addr shows a wlan0 interface.

The wiki shows that is should work, but I can't get it working.
I start with the Ethernet cable disconnected, otherwise the wlan0 interface is not present.

I found this topic on the forum which gives unloading the ethernet module as a solution
http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 5&p=121684

It works for me, but it's a strange an dirty solution imho.
Now it is not possible to switch easily from wlan to ethernet.

Return to “Arch”
