Composite Error in Enlightenment

Sun Jul 29, 2012 6:23 pm

Howdy y'all,

I installed enlightenment on Arch. It runs rather well, but when I startx, after she loads I get the error you see in this screen cap:

As I'm typing this I'm wondering if installing xcompmgr will fix this.....
I'm currently away from my pi...

Any tips or suggestions? I'm pretty much a noob so this might be an easy fix.

Thanks!

When I tried to run xcompmgr it gave me an error that a composition manager was already running. From the Enlightenment wiki (or somewhere) I saw that the comp manager is called "comp" but "killall comp" and "pidof comp" gave me nothing. Any help is appreciated.

Well, it looks like there's a "24 bit" that may be included in my xorg.conf.....only, my xorg.conf file isn't there.

Not in /etc/x11/ or in /etc/

Where else might I find my xorg.conf file...or do I even have one?

Any help is appreciated!

Run a find or locate or whereis command to see where it is.

find / -name xorg.conf

The following thread in Ubuntu forums talks about hunting for it, with examples of other commands. I only know how to use find. I know it is not our OS but basic Linux is basic Linux.

If you google, there are a lot of pages with Xorg.conf examples.

I know zilch about xorg but am answering you as no one else has in a few days. One site suggested the following command:

Xorg -configure

Maybe also try looking for Xorg.conf instead of xorg.conf, that could find it at Linux is case sensitivite.

Thanks for the tip!

Well it turns out that I don't have a Xorg.conf or a xorg.conf

Curious.

I thought, during my googling, I saw something that said udev is used in arch arm on each boot to set display parameters.... So I opened up udev & it had one commented line that said something like "#See udev(7)"

Idk, I guess I'll just deal with it....Thanks again!
