pacman -Syu

Seems to be a lot of advice around about updating Arch after initial install. However, I can't find a definitive guide as to how to handle the subsequent prompts - any chance of a sticky with comprehensive update advice? Specifically, after first login (via ssh) I type:

pacman -Syu

and receive:

Code: Select all

:: The following packages should be upgraded first :
    pacman
:: Do you want to cancel the current operation
:: and upgrade these packages now? [Y/n] 

How should I respond? Thanks in advance...

I know it's crazy and against what would normally be done, but never had an occasion on alarm where upgrading pacman first has gone well.
The last 24 hours have proved me right

I don't know why pacman.conf has this setting
So say n (no) to upgrading pacman first

Actually I went for yes and it all went well first time (unlike the previous image which caused me no end of grief)

I burnt arch several times to a sd card for the RPi. Always did an -Syu and never ran into any problems.
The only thing to keep in mind is the change to filesystem found in upstream.
