No more updates for Debian Wheezy (Soft-float)?

Hi

I the last 3-4 weeks when I run:

sudo apt-get update
and
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

I get this message every time:
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

Have there been any updates in the past 3-4 weeks or is there something wrong with my installlation?

You may be tracking the stable release which may not have had recent changes (stable only gets security fixes). I'm tracking the testing release (jessie/sid) which has regular updates.

What is reported by?

cat /etc/debian_version

7.1 is an odd entry. I'd expect a version name in that file.

My /etc/apt/sources.list contains

Code: Select all

deb http://http.debian.net/debian testing main contrib non-free
deb-src http://http.debian.net/debian testing main contrib non-free
deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org testing main

OK, in the source list I got this:

Code: Select all

deb http://http.debian.net/debian wheezy main contrib non-free
So I'm at the stable. Which possibly explains there haven't been so many updates. Thank you.

And the "sudo apt-get update" does not update anything, but maybe nothing has changed for a while.

Yes, wheezy is the current stable release, and normally it will only get security updates.

You could change the text wheezy to testing in /etc/apt/sources.list and then do

sudo update
sudo upgrade
sudo dist-upgrade

but there is a risk that you will break your system and it will probably update a lot of packages.

If YOU choose to take that route then make sure you have backed up all your important data and make sure your SD card has plenty of free space (df -h).

Thanks joan

I leave it as it is, my pi runs perfectly so there is no reason for me to risk anything ;)
