Raspberry not booting with Soft-float Debian “wheezy”

Wed Feb 06, 2013 8:52 pm

Hi,
I'm trying out a few different OS and I've run into a problem with Soft-float Debian “wheezy”. I got the image file from here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads and I'm trying to burn it to the HC SD 8GB card using Win32DiskImager 0.7.

Other systems boot just fine but when I burn img of soft-float Debian and start my Raspberry nothing happens. PWR led is red all the time, ACT led blinks once or not at all and nothing happens.

I've tried redownloading image and repeating whole process - same result. Any ideas?

I have the same problem - all I get on the monitor is a raspberry icon in the top left corner, and a non blinking cursor below it.

Found the problem - replace the start.elf file on the sd card with that from the Raspbian SD card

See the following link for info;

It does not work for me, i tried several times but no way.....
Is there any other Soft-float distrib that "works" ...?
I really need that because I only want my rasp to run Java and a Tomcat

Java and tomcat work with hard-float.
You can install OpenJDK 6 / 7 found in the Raspbian package archive or download Oracle JDK 7 / 8 from java.net which all work with hard-float.
http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 81&t=27805 - status of java on raspbian.

Xerxes Rånby @xranby I once had two, then I gave one away. Now both are in use every day!

all right :)
I have tweaked my debian with raspbian *.elf and everything works but no mouse and keyboard when startx (solved later with rpi-update)
Thanks a lot for your answer, it will certainly be usefull for other rasp users .
(by the way raspbian.org is quite not responsive for mobile ;)

Return to “Debian”
