Install xev

Fri Aug 17, 2012 2:47 pm

I am trying to remap some keys on my keyboard. I tried installing xev, but I couldn't find it in the repo. I was able to install xmodmap from x11-xserver-utils, but xev wasn't included. I also installed make and gcc.

I found the source for xev here, but I can't get it to install. This is what happens when I try to make:

Code: Select all

[email protected]:~$ make xev
cc xev.c -o xev
xev.c:40:25: fatal error: X11/Xlocale.h: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.
make: *** [xev] Error 1
Is there a package already made for this? If not, can somebody help me make the package?

Thanks for any help!

You can install it using "sudo apt-get install xbase-clients" (about 2Mb) and once installed inside X run it and get your events codes.
