Install 8.3 Jessie Raspberry pi 3B

I cannot get the pi to boot :///

Tried with the dd command

debian-8.3.0-arm64-DVD-1
debian-8.3.0-armhf-DVD-1

Writing goes ok however the pi does not boot at all and the mac does not seem to be able to read the sd card either after dd

What am I missing please. I would like to use debian 8.3 instead of raspbian.

You're missing the Pi-specific bootloader and kernel and maybe some other bits and pieces.

You also missed the posts on this forum about the current (im)possibilities of running an arm64 OS

I read many posts but this si very unclear to me. My knowledge is not that great but I gather some people managed to do it.

There is a script viewtopic.php?t=104981&p=745746 but I have not tried it yet and they don't mention pi3.

I don't understand because the pi3 is 64 bits from the advertising but can't use arm64 ? or is it a matter of creating the img file instead of iso ?

People used to install on pi2 so we must be able to do pi3 ?

At this time, we can't use 64-bit on the Pi 3.

What of boils down to is that we don't have kernel sources for 64-bit, and we don't have a firmware that will take an ARMv8/ARM64 kernel. Right now, the Pi3 is basically, more or less, a slightly faster Pi 2.

So I have pi3 and it has ARM64 But i cant install this on my PI3?
