xubuntu-desktop - how to prevent boot?

Sun Jul 05, 2015 1:31 am

I installed Debian on my Raspberry Pi 2 from this link:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/RaspberryPi

All was working fine until I tried to install xubuntu-desktop. Now it completely freezes as soon as it tries to start X. The screen turns off and it doesn't respond to pings.

I probably don't really need the desktop anyway. How can I prevent it trying to boot into X so that I can repair things?

I eventually found a solution:

http://askubuntu.com/a/79698/416723

Code: Select all

sudo bash -c 'echo "manual" >> /etc/init/lightdm.override'
