Switching from sysvinit to Upstart in Wheezy

Sat Jul 07, 2012 11:53 pm

Hi,

I've switched from sysvinit to upstart but get the message: "Unable to connect to Upstart: Failed to connect to socket /com/ubuntu/upstart: Connection refused" whenever I attempt to start a service.

Should anyone want to give it a go, I can confirm that Upstart does execute all the old sysvinit scripts at startup so it is safe to switch. But Upstart scripts don't seem to work for me.

Has anyone been able to get Upstart to work in Wheezy?

Peter.

I discovered that if already logged on
sudo shutdown -h now

for a safe shutdown
then restart the pi

the error then seems to go away

Return to “Debian”
