You need to download the hardware floating point version of java from oracle that is here.
http://jdk8.java.net/fxarmpreview/ and install it.
Then get the nand2tetris software from here:
If you also install the alacarte program you can make desktop icons for the 5 programs that are
in the package.
sudo apt-get install alacarte
I have found it very useful to teach computer basics from first principals to students and adults.
