Smart board and raspberry pi

Thu Mar 08, 2018 5:47 pm

Does anyone know if the raspberry pi can be used instead of a computer to run a smart board. Connecting the video is easy enough but will it accept input from the touch screen and is there some software that will allow you to still use the markers and eraser. To give some backstory to my need, I am a substitute teacher and frequently use smart boards when I sub. There are a few teachers who use laptops which they take home each day. I’m looking for a cheap portable substitute for the computer without needing to get a laptop myself so I can still use this teaching tool. Thanks.

I like your OOTB thinking but I think you'll not be lucky in a Pi recognising the smart board as an input device

But even more highly unlikely that any software would recognise the pen/erasers

Sorry :(

PS When I took over looking after a school, I got fixed PCs put in to eliminate this issue entirely

If it is a SMARTboard then I think their last drivers where wheezy based x86 things.
Give them (or Promethian or whoever) an email and ask them.
