RPi Education Version

Thu Aug 16, 2012 3:49 pm

I have come across the mention of an education version of the RPi coming in the new year in several places in the RPi forums. Does anyone have any information about it? Is it just a standard RPi Model B with a case, or it is a Model A with a case? Or a Model C?
I am finalising the planning for my computer club and need to be sure I know what is coming up.

The best bet is probably a Model A with a case.
{sig} Setup: Original version Raspberry Pi (B, rev1, 256MB), Dell 2001FP monitor (1600x1200), 8GB Class 4 SD Card with Raspbian and XBMC, DD-WRT wireless bridge

Jamesh said elsewhere to a question I asked about this today
Fixes for polyfuse issue would be the main HW thing, then improved drivers for USB, plus any HW improvements highlighted on the forums - nothing that changes the functionality/capability.
- plus a case of course. I intend to run all mine headless via SSH and VNC (to save time setting up and taking down!) so a model A would not be an attractive proposition for me.

Educators would not be limited to Educator models there's nothing to stop them (if they can get funding and supply) buying model "B" RPi's and cases and running with those. ;)

Hi Jim - yes I understand that and my current plan is to go with model B as I have been using at home for my experiments.
