My pi got wrong SoC?

Wed Aug 02, 2017 4:50 pm

After running

Code: Select all

cat /proc/cpuinfo
i get this.
On Hardware section it says
Hardware : BCM2835
According to this i have the wrong SoC.. What's going on? Have i paid for something else? I think i bought Raspberry Pi 2 :)

That's just how linux is reporting it nowadays, all models say BCM2835 regardless. The Revision number below it identifies it better, there's a list here that you can use to determine the RPi you have from the revision code. Plus if /proc/cpuinfo lists 4 processors then you obviously don't really have a BCM2835 as that is a 1 core not a 4 core.

It is a known issue and being looked at. Something to do with how the upstream kernel identifies the system IIRC.
