I just bought my Raspberrypi and i plan to use it as a media center and so i would like to get a remote for it. I looked up at DX for a cheap one and i found one that seems to have good reviews and a affordable price :

Im wondering if this will work well on the raspberrypi with xmbc and if anyone has it? It says its driver free but i would like to have some more confirmations that it would work before buying it (but no rush, i still have to receive the raspberrypi first...)

Thanks to Microsoft, pretty much every standard remote available these days conforms to their Windows Media Centre specification and should work anywhere easily. I use a similar cheap remote with my HTPC and it was painless to set up with LIRC, though if you're not experienced with Linux you might check to see if there's a 'live' version of XBMC that might make this part easier.

Haven't used this particular one, but I'd expect it is a standard MCE remote and should work fine.

I suggest not buying a remote yet.
First check to see if your TV supports CEC over HDMI (described in the wiki).
If it does then ... hopefully the work being done by Pulse8 will mean that you will be able to use your TV remote to control your media centre RPi.

I have used the very similar item 34434 from DX. It works fine with Myth TV on Ubuntu, but I haven't tried it on a Raspberry Pi.

I don't think my Tv has CEC unfortunately.
I looked at that remote also on dealextreme, looks similar to the one i posted so it would probably work.
But now i wonder, should i just get the remote for xbmc or should i invest some more and get a small wireless keyboard like this : ? Is it worth the extra money or i should use xbmc fine with the remote?

Will you be searching youtube? Or would you expect to enter lots of text?

Text i don't really expect to but searching youtube yes i probably will search some videos. Could i do that just with the remote or can it be used as some kind of keyboard?

That question about searching youtube and typing text has been haunting me lol I had decided to get a media center remote when i first thought of using the PI as media center because it seemed more practical and cheaper. But now that i think about it, i do plan to use some youtube and i never know if i will need to do some more text in it ( but highly unlikely).
So now i have been looking at some cheap media center keyboards and found some nice ones but i don't want to spend much money and others i like don't ship to where i live. So i found one that is cheap enough and with a 25$ gift card i have to redeem i only have to pay 5$ more for it. Its the Rii Mini Wireless Keyboard ( Link here : - Its close to 24$.

Here is a image of it:

But i don't know how practical it actually is. The reason i wanted the remote was because it was practical, i don't know how much a keyboard (even though small) is, but the reviews on this seem to be good.
Does anyone has a Rii Keyboard like this?
Do you think i should get a remote or a keyboard? Which would be better for media-center use.
