I just wanted to create a place holder for potential future discussion for this adapter/chipset.
This card was released 12/2016 and is available on the shelves of many local retail stores. If anyone, like me, elected to buy this adapter on a whim for use with the Pi they will have discovered that there is no driver available. * The 8812AU driver by Diederik is not sufficient.
The above link provides some great information about this card and others. Specifically, the mention of Edimax EW-7822UNC.
I opened a support ticket with Edimax today (03/29/2017) asking for information on the driver for 7822UNC and was advised that it is in final verification by the development team and should be released "soon".
Once the driver is released I will update this topic and the wiki article with a direct link, in hopes that someone with more talent than I can publish a source that will compile for the Pi.
For some additional information, the package that is available for our platform and x32/x64 architecture is called 'firmware-realtek'. I don't have knowledge of what the turn around would be for an official package update but for the people in the future, this will be what you are looking for.
