Flat ribbon display header

I have searched the forum and google to find out what this header on the B+ is for.
The only thing that comes up is for the GPIO and connecting a LCD screen there.

Is the flat ribbon display header used for connecting lets say a old laptop LCD to it?

There are two on there for flat ribbon cables. One is for the camera module and the other is for a display. The display header is for dsi displays, unfortunately most laptop displays employ lvds. The foundation is working on making an official display but it has yet to rear it's head. So far nothing works with it, and afaik it is disabled until the official display is released.

Thank you for your quick reply and the sad info. I have a couple LCD Screens with the flat ribbon cables. A 7in and a 4in from a couple cheap AIPhone door systems. Hoping maybe I could use one of those. But alas I am saddened that nothing works on the RPI yet.

The DSI (display serial interface) is only for very specific LCD displays, the chances it will (eventually) work with any random old RAW LCD panels, just because they too use a "flat PCB cable" are almost nihil! sorry to bust your wishful thinking.
