i wanted to make a custom ribbon cable for the raspberry pi. but i found that there is a LOT of ribbon cable on the market and i cannot find the exact specs.

this is what i found:TE CONNECTIVITY / MADISON CABLE 2-57051-4 FLAT CABLE, 26COND, 100FT, 28AWG, 150V

http://www.newark.com/te-connectivity-m ... dp/66F6277

specs

If you're connecting to the big GPIO connector on the raspi those are standard 0.1" spacing. So the spacing between your conductors should be 0.05". That one says 1mm pitch??

Best to check you are buying the right connectors to go onto it too! And whether you need a special tool to assemble the cable... Are you buying an entire reel, or just a few metres?

Yeah that connector might be the right thing (0.1" pitch) but I think the cable you linked to is the wrong pitch. You probably want 0.05" pitch so they line up with the connectors.

Years ago (from my local suppliers) I was able to buy it by the metre, so look around if you don't want an entire reel!

Also make sure you can actually assemble the thing... there's meant to be a special tool, but squeezing slowly with a vice, so the connectors cut into the ribbon, might work....
