Hi,
so just to confirm, basically, the cursor does not move - it does not follow where you press down with the stylus, as indicated by the crosshairs?

Hi,
on the assumption it is not software related, the usual problem in these cases is that the touch panel has been damaged. Can you check for
hairline cracks on the panel?

Hi All,

I've been getting on really well with the TFT display supplied by Texy but have run into a problem when following Notro's Bootsplash article:
https://github.com/notro/fbtft/wiki/Bootsplash

I followed the steps without any errors but the "joy" bootsplash theme (as described in the instructions) looks a bit messed up.
I think it is best described with a video. I wonder if anyone can help figure out what is going wrong here:

Thanks!

You do not just copy it to the SD card - you can use wins32diskimager, or google how to write an image to the sd card.

Hi.

I still have the HY28A screen that I bought to eBay el_gringo69uk, last 25 Nov 2013. Do you still have the zip image for the RPI, that uses that old screen? The link http://tronnes.org/downloads/2014-01-07 ... -hy28a.zip is not found... :-(

Best regards.

Hi,
has anyone who has used a HY28B display, such as the one used in my V2 display board successfully migrated to 3.18 with fbtft?
I cannot get the overlay to work, although the HY28A version works fine for my V1 boards.
As Notro has removed the HY28B overlay file from github until this is proven, I have attached it here as a zip file. You will need to unzip the file and put it in /boot/overlays directory and add dtoverlay=hy28b to the config.txt file, details here :
https://github.com/notro/fbtft/wiki#image-download

UPDATE : HY28B overlay is working - it seems I had a faulty display :?

Thanks,
Texy

Is there an easy way to get openelec or OSMC/Raspbmc running with the texi-display yet? I also have a RPI2, too.

Not tried it for a very long time - let us know how you get on ;-)
Note the fbtft currently uses 3.18.5 kernel. If either of those media player OS' uses custom kernel, then it probably will not work.

Raspbmc does not work yet on rpi2, osmc is just alpha status and has still too many bugs. I will have to wait.

Yes, I hope that OSMC (which looks fantastic even in alfa) will include fbdisplay ...
have a look here:

OSMC anyone?
Image

Now that RaspBMC is no longer supported, I wanted to get my v2 TFT up and running with OSMC on my Raspberry Pi 2. This has been quite the undertaking for me as the RaspBMC instructions no longer work exactly as before. Mix these changes with the Device Tree introduced in the 3.18 kernel and this has been quite the learning opportunity! I have always appreciated how detailed and thorough Texy's instructions are. I would be glad to "pay it forward" and post instructions here if anyone is interested. Note that I am not using the touch screen at all, since I want to protect my screen. The screen fits *perfect* in this case (with the included extension).

The only thing I am stuck on is getting fbcp to auto start when Kodi launches. Since I am after max performance, I am updating the kernel with notro's DMA-enabled SPI FBTFT driver. After doing this, I noticed the boot console is shown rather than the OSMC splash screen. This isn't a problem, per se, except that I can only get the boot console to be mirrored. Once Kodi launches, the TFT goes black. Thus, the only way I can get Kodi mirrored on the TFT is to SSH into the box, when Kodi is running, and manually command it to run in the backgroud, ie:

Code: Select all

fbcp &
Things I have tried:
  • Within /etc/rc.local, as notro did with startx here
Every time, it is the same. I can see the boot console on the TFT, but Kodi is not mirrored after that. It is worth noting that I have 4 raspberries at the top of the boot console, and only a single line warning about a deleted job. Not sure if it has something to do with that or not.
Image

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks,

-miesch

Good post ;)

Have you tried using cron with the @reboot option ?

Texy! I was hoping you would like that reprise of your initial RaspBMC post!

Thanks for the cron idea. I thought for sure that was going to do it. Unfortunately, I am still seeing the same thing. I know fbcp is automatically launching, as the boot console is displayed on my TFT (which by the way I do not see if I have not enabled automatic launch of fbcp). However, Kodi never shows up on the TFT, but I can see it on my primary monitor. Incidentally, in all of these cases, including cron, it seems fbcp is still running, even though Kodi is not being mirrored on the TFT. If I try to manually launch fbcp via SSH at this point, nothing happens (screen stays dark). If I try launching it again I get an error response:

Code: Select all

[email protected]:~$ fbcp &
[1] 367
[email protected]:~$ fbcp &
[2] 372
[email protected]:~$ tvservice-client: Failed to connect to TV service: -1
It seems like since the boot console is shown instead of booting directly into Kodi, for some reason fbcp is being associated with that process. Everything I have read about fbcp indicates that it is not tied to a process or terminal, it just mirrors what is shown on the primary output. Any other ideas? Thanks a ton,

-miesch
