Use Arduino TFT Display for the Raspberry Pi?

So I have one of this: http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/28-tft ... p-864.html
I wanted to use it with my Pi, so I first tried using my Arduino as a middleman to control the display. I couldn't convert strings to ints and strings to u_int16s and so on. So the middleman idea died. Now as a LAST resort I am asking the community for help on how to run the shield off of my Pi.

Any help :?:

It looks like seeedstudio now has a new version of that shield (v2 which is black as opposed to the one you linked to which is the red first version).

If it is really the red one you have, you've got yourself a tough problem: its driver chip (ST7781R) is not (yet) supported by notro's tft drivers (https://github.com/notro/fbtft/), and even if it were, you'd need a lot of GPIO pins (12 if I'm not mistaken) because this module uses a parallel interface. Nothing impossible as far as I can see, but you'd need to write a driver or ask notro to do that and you'd pretty much be using all of your GPIO pins for it. I have no idea how efficient the end result would be.

The v2 has an SPI interface which is what most supported TFT modules have, and uses the ili9341 chip which is supported by notro's drivers.

Unfortunately, I do have the red one. I'm considering going to the arduino forums for help with the middle man idea

Hi,
the HY28A-LCDB 2.8" TFT display is much better suited to the Pi as it uses SPI instead of a parallel port for both the display and the touch panel.
However parallel port displays can be used with either serial to parallel converter circuitry or the use of a CPLD. Adds complexity, but still useable.

Hi all,

First of all, sorry for reviving this thread. I just bought the same shield with the intention to use it with an Arduino. However, right now, I need to use it with my RaspberryPi for about a week and have no idea how to wire it. I'm ok with having no touch capabilities, I just need a tiny display for my Pi.

Reading the suggestions it seems doable but I have no idea how to wire it up. Any ideas?

Hello,

I picked this up also, and would like to do the same. I found this: https://github.com/notro/fbtft/issues/59
I did install the FBTFT using: sudo REPO_URI=https://github.com/notro/rpi-firmware BRANCH=builtin rpi-update
but upon running the following (only pasted partial here for space) : sudo modprobe flexfb regwidth=16 width=240 height=320
I get the following error: command not found

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Romay

Will this work with my Raspberry Pi 2 running Raspbian Jessie?
:D :D :D
Help is greatly appreciated.

I have the model v2.1 TFT screen for the Arduino UNO, but I'd like to use it for the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi, may I know is there a way to use Arduino LCD with RPi via its GPIO? I have done some searching that some LCD can use RPi SPI mode, but I couldn’t find any schematic for this model. Thx.
