USB WIFI dongle help connecting with XBMC

Tue Feb 19, 2013 6:29 pm

Hello I recently purchased a wifi dongle to connect to my raspberry pi.

The model is USB 802.11n 150M WiFi Wireless Lan Network Card Adapter SL-1507N
Website: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/USB-802-11n-150M ... 379wt_1156

I have been trying to get it to connect to my raspberry pi and I am running XBMC. I have a driver for the dongle on a cd and I am not sure where to get started, any help would be appreciated?

With it plugged in go into Command Prompt and type lsusb and press the enter key

This will list, hopefully, the actual chipset used on the Generic USB WiFi Dongle possibly a Ralink RT5370 !

Regards the CD, the Linux Drivers are compiled for x86 architecture, not the Pi's ARMv6 architecture..

Finally what version of XMBC are you running ?
I will always assume you are running Raspbian for desktop and Raspbmc for XMBC !

With latest updates it should be supported in Raspbmc, that not sure about XBian or OpenElec
