Testing I/O

Mon Jan 28, 2013 6:24 pm

Hi,

I have recently finished assembling the Gertboard and am just going through the tests described in the Gertboard user manual.

Testing the pushbuttons. - Worked
Testing the LEDs - Worked
Testing I/O - Failed

When I wire the board up for the Testing I/O I only get 00 displayed. None of the buttons make any difference and 00 just stays there regardless of what I do,

Does any one have any ideas on how to trouble shoot this?

Kind regards

Mike

You said the button test worked. So your input-mode for at least 3 pins is working fine.
So what if you wire it up for the buttons test and then run the test I/O?

Sorry, it turns out I wasn't paying enough attention when I was doing the button test. When I run the butled test with the button config I get 111. Button 3 does not turn it to 0. Buttons 1 & 2 do. I Measured button 3 with an ohm meter and it measures .997 KOhms and not a open. I de soldered the switched and measured across the 2 points and I still get .994 kOhms on the meter. I guess I messed up the soldering somewhere.....

Sorry, that was wrong, the butled test starts 110 with no buttons pressed. Butons 1 & 2 turn it to 010 / 100 but just pressing button 3 it stays as 110 regardless..

with the button removed from the PCB if it still reports low '0' then you have probably got a short to ground somewhere.
