PoE Port Expansion

I have the PoE HAT and wondered if it can be expanded to 2 or 3 ports. I would like to use my Raspberry to handle 2 or 3 IP phones and am not sure how to use the one port given.

You need a network switch with PoE. They are designed to solve this sort of problem.

I don't think I understand you.

The PoE HAT powers the Pi over the Ethernet cable from a PoE capable network Switch, or a non-PoE Switch used in conjunction with a PoE injector.

If the IP phones require PoE themselves, they would also get that from the PoE capable Switch - nothing to do with the Pi.

The Pi will still be able to communicate with the phones over the network, just not provide power to them.

Thanks everyone. Much appreciated.

So I guess the only reason I got the HAT was just to have an Ethernet port to begin with. Obviously it is needed to connect with my VOIP provider anyway. Evidently I was reading into the situation something that didn't apply.

Thanks again.

The Official Raspberry Pi PoE HAT doesn't provide an ethernet port. The ethernet port is on the Pi board itself. The PoE HAT merely allows PoE power to be injected into that port and used to power the Pi board.

Perhaps you are talking about some other HAT ?
