RPi with display board and only one power supply

Mon May 21, 2018 12:14 pm

I want to connect a 10 inch display to my Raspberry Pi and bought a screen with a RTD2662 display board. I was reading that with the original raspberry pi 7 inch display, it is possible to only connect the power supply to the display board, and using jumper wires connected to the raspberry pi's GPIO it will also get power.

Is this in general possible also with other display boards? I can see that my display board has two power inputs (one of which is a 5V 4pin USB header). Do you think that this power input will also work as power output when connecting it to the raspberry pi? Or is that impossible (sorry for the ignorance, but I am new to that).
