Connecting other displays?

Wed Jan 10, 2018 4:09 pm

So I'm still kind of new to the whole raspberry pi scene but I'm definitely trying to learn all the ins and outs and trying to understand how things work. I found this display online that I'd like to try to connect to my Raspberry Pi Zero (or perhaps another Raspberry Pi if it's not supported by the Zero):

http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/2 ... e7700UN3sx

Now according to that listing, that display uses something called an 8bit Parallel Data with MPU (8080-series MPU), but after doing some research from previous Raspberry Pi users, it appears that interface is just a fancy name for an I2C or SPI connector. So knowing that, I think the display is theoretically possible to connect to the RPi and on top of that, other people on here have said that I wouldn't need to write my own driver to connect an I2C or SPI display. It should just be plug and play for the most part since I'm using it in user mode. I just want to verify if that information is correct? And based on that information and the pictures on that listing, is that display compatible with the RPi?

If it is compatible, how would I go about connecting it? It looks like the display connector is a ribbon cable of some kind but I can't tell what kind it is. In the other picture on the listing, the ribbon cable is plugged into some board that looks like it has pins on it to interface with another device. I'm not sure if the board comes with it or if it's just the display. If anyone can provide any information on the compatibility of this display or what it'd take to make them compatible, that'd be much appreciated. I'm still pretty new to all this so I apologize if this seems like a basic question.
