TFT screen, switching between TFT and HDMI

Thu Mar 31, 2016 7:30 pm

Hello RaspPis,

I was wondering, if I buy a TFT display like this: https://www.adafruit.com/product/2353, is it easy to switch between that screen and an HDMI monitor, or is it even possible to use both at the same time? I'm planning to make a portable computer with my Raspberry Pi 3, but at home I would like to use a bigger HDMI screen.

Greetings ;-)

Have you thought about how you are you going to connect and drive the screen?

That screen cannot be directly connected to the RPi without an interface board: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-tfp ... tl-display (the blue board in this link)
The board converts the LCD to HDMI so you will need to swap the HDMI cable when at home.

You might look at the official RPF screen instead. https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/ra ... h-display/
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated Raspbian Buster w/ Desktop OS.

Thanks. I know about that screen. But I don't need it to be a touch screen, and my goal is to stay UNDER the price of a second-hand laptop (120 euro).
I think something like this https://www.adafruit.com/products/2454 could answer that question...
