Help with Ethernet

Fri Jul 03, 2015 3:54 pm

This is my first post here, so please correct me if I am wrong.

I use a LAN cable to access internet on my laptop. I intend to access my PI 2 through putty also using a standard ethernet cable and share the internet with pi. But my laptop has only one ethernet port. I have seen some USB to Ethernet adapters online but i am not sure they will be compatible.

Can someone suggest some compatible adapters or any other way through which I can access pi through putty and share the internet while using Ethernet port of my laptop to connect to internet.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi,

as u want to use ethernet for your internet connection on laptop,
to share internet to Pi or to access it via SSH you have 2 ways
1. use any adaptor given in this link
http://elinux.org/RPi_USB_Ethernet_adapters

2. assuming you are using a windows PC, share internet of your laptop via wi-fi and use it on your Pi with a wi-fi adaptor.
use this tutorial http://www.7tutorials.com/how-turn-your ... cess-point
list of compatible wi-fi adaptors for Pi http://elinux.org/RPi_USB_Wi-Fi_Adapters
