Another Pi TV HAT question

Fri Jan 11, 2019 12:24 pm

I have saved an EXTM3U text file of my favourite 8 TV stations. VLC will play these and show a playlist. I saved the streams with the PI's ip address at the start followed by ":9981"and the rest of the stream details. I understand that I could use "http://localhost" instead of the the Pi's ip address. I would like to know how I can modify this text file to use a different ip address on the Pi used at a different location or on the same Pi that was used to create it when ifconfig shows that its ip address has changed. I have tried replacing the Pi's ip address with "http://localhost" but with no success.

I would have assumed that this would have worked but (assuming you are running VLC on the same Pi as TVHeadend then it implies to me that TVHeadend is listening on a specific IP address.
It might be possible to configure it to listen on ALL network devices ... but you would have to look through the configuration pages to see if it can do that.
You could also try http://127.0.0.1 ... in theory it is the same as localhost but easy to try.
