Checking battery connected with ds1307

Mon Aug 19, 2013 2:23 pm

Hi there,

I've connected up my rtc and everything works following the instructions here: http://learn.adafruit.com/adding-a-real ... t-rtc-time

My question really is how can I test that the battery is properly connected? I've checked the datasheet and the protocols are all for data rather than power. How can I test if the battery is connected the wrong way round for example?

If I unplug the battery I can still read time from the hardware clock:

Code: Select all

sudo hwclock -r
If I run hwclock debug:

Code: Select all

sudo hwclock --debug

Everything looks fine....

Has anyone tried this?
