RPi 4 and AVB?

Wed Aug 14, 2019 2:16 pm

Does the ethernet port on RPi 4 qualify as AVB port for audio video bridging applications?

I don't know what are the exact requirements but the minimum seems to be the ability to time-stamp the packets the Ethernet controller should support gPTP (IEEE 802.1AS) (https://github.com/AVnu/OpenAvnu/issues/373).

Some Intel (I210) based Linux AVB driver can be found on the Github, would be nice if that worked on RPi too:

According to the discussion in https://github.com/AVnu/OpenAvnu/issues/656 this is likely not possible.
