GPU RAM Interface

Sun Jun 16, 2019 9:26 am

Hello,

has the GPU a higher memory bandwidth to RAM than the CPU or do they share a common bus?
Do GPU Accelerated media players like omxplayer write the decoded Video stream to DDR RAM at any time is it done completely inside the GPU and written directly to the internal hdmi frame buffer?

Thanks for clarification

ARM and gpu both access ram through the same bus infrastructure.
The codecs write their data to sdram (generally as yuv), and the composition pipeline takes that frame and others to generate the hdmi (or other) output on the fly.
