Screen identification and use.
I have a screen from a Sony Experia J which i believe uses MIPI Dsi but is has this tiny connector.

Is there an adapter that will allow me to use this with the raspberry pi?

1st no: there is no adapter
2nd no: DSI displays are currently not supported; only the official one can use DSI

Thats a shame.

is there a connector/breakout board for the connection on the screen?

O.K., the DSI firmware is closed source ... that might be a shame but hopefully changes soon (as some guys are working on this).

But why should it be a shame that no breakout board for a random display is available? In a DIY world you can design it yourself.
Anyhow, your display uses MIPI interface, and because MIPI is a high speed interface a 'traditional breakout board' will not work most likely due to signal integrity issues (trace length, trace impedance, ... just to name a few).

So, even with a working DSI interface most users will not be able to fire their screen up, because you will need a dedicated adapter for it (and this might not be existent due to the vast diversity of displays).

out of curiosity: Do you have access to the data sheet of your display?
That's also a mandatory item ...
