Sat Aug 25, 2012 10:56 am

Hi Folks,

Can anyone point me towards a cheap i2c GPS available in the UK?
I can't seem to find one suitable.

You'll probably find that USB ones are cheaper and easier to find. They sell for less than most serial gps modules in small quantities, and normally contain a serial gps and usb-serial converter chip.

I have the Navigatron V2, an i2c GPS module from flytron.

They are out of stock for the moment though......

I'm using a SSF2929P. It'll connect directly to the UART if you disable the console stuff and gpsd talks happily to it through that. It's about the cheapest unit I could find at about $30.

I'm also getting time from mine

How well does the Navigatron work with the pi? I need a gps with the pi for a project. What kind of problems did you run into?

Anyone have any info on this? I am also looking for the best way to get latitude and longitude data.
