Driving lcd with rpi only

Mon Jan 25, 2016 11:20 am

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if it is possible to monitor a lcd panel (with a lvds and inverter output) with the raspberry alone (using the GPIO connector).

Is it possible with software only or does it needs hardware add-on?

Thanks,
Pierre

You need an HDMI to LVDS converter.
Something like http://www.ebay.com/itm/HDMI-DVI-VGA-Dr ... 1115624120
And you have to make sure it's compatible with your pannel

Actually I was wondering if we can skip the converter board (lvds to hdmi) by wiring directly lvds to the raspberry gpio and make a bit of software/driver to make it work.
Any ideas?

Well, I said 'need', as in mandatory.
So the answer is no. Or in other words: yes, you need extra hardware.
