RasPi Touchscreen 5-7"

Fri Apr 03, 2015 3:47 am

Hi guys,

I'm looking to purchase Raspberry Pi 2 and a touchscreen to go along with it. I found a disturbingly small amount of information regarding touchscreens for the Raspberry Pi (I'm looking for something around 5 to 7 inches, you can't really see anything below 5 and above 7 is a bit over budget. Does anyone know if this touchscreenhttps://www.tindie.com/products/DIGCM/7 ... anana-pro/ or this http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Banana-P ... 74237.htmlwould work? Or is there another option - preferably below $100? It would also be nice if it is 5v 1a powered w. no extra boards etc... as pictured:

Thanks in advance :D ,

Thanks for the reply,

Would you happen to know what the power requirement is? I am planning to power both Pi and display from a powerbank with 2 outputs (5V 1A and 5V 2.1A - for my pi).

Hello

optionally 5V 1A from your power bank is enough for the display alone

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I noticed some other displays on eBay and Amazon which are around $50 - it would be nice if I could get one that cheap. Anyone know if these work:

http://www.amazon.com/Resistive-interfa ... ouchscreen
http://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-Display ... ouchscreen

I don't want to buy something dodgy... and preferably get a display which doesn't use up my GPIO pins...

They all have HDMI input, so I would expect them to work. Be aware that only #2 has a touch panel and it uses some of the GPIO pins:
HDMI interface for displaying, no I/Os required (however, the touch panel still needs I/Os)
If you don't want to use the Pi's GPIO then you'll have to find a screen with a USB touch panel.

Hi again,

Anyone have any experience with this touch screen 5" from eleduino which only requires 5v 0.2A and a couple of GPIO pins? http://eleduino.com/products_ny_162.html. Does anyone know how much they charge for international shipping?

Thanks.

Anyone know of any touch displays around $50??? Seems weird paying more for the display than the computer itself... ;)

I don`t want that.. I just want to install the drivers on an existing installation.. .

These displays are specific to the Banana Pi, and will NOT work with a Raspberry Pi.

You need a display with hdmi input (LCD+adapter board) and a USB touch screen controller that is supported by the Pi.

FYI, here is my review of a 4.3" hdmi LCD/adapter combo:

Hello,

Does it work well with the DSI interface ?
DO we need to install anything else or just plug and play like HDMI ?

I intend to use this screen
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Banana-P ... 38878.html
but i am not sure how it work ?
