On RPi1 type B is NOT supported official touchscreen?

Mon Jun 19, 2017 7:12 am

Hi,
I'm trying to use official 7-inch touchscreen on Raspi 1 type B.

connect with DSI cable and 4 pins (red-5V, black-GND, yellow-SCL, blue-SDA), then did following commands,
but no items are displayed on touchscreen...

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install --reinstall libraspberrypi0 libraspberrypi-{bin,dev,doc} raspberrypi-bootloader
sudo reboot
However, on Raspi 2 type B, the touchscreen works!

Does anyone can use the touchscreen on Raspi 1 type B?

On Raspi 1 type B, the touchscreen is NOT supported??

On a RPi 1A or 1B you need to use four wires. You need the the I²C connection as well as the power connected before you boot. You need to ensure that the ribbon cable is in the right way round, that's a common failure.

You also need a modern version of Raspbian which includes the hardware support code. Ancient old Wheezy won't drive it.

I'm sure there's a reason that documentation is written, but I'm not sure what it is seeing as people never read it.
https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... /README.md Most of it is but attaching to a model A or B.

it is quite simple problem, I'm trying to do on WHEEZY...

download and burn JESSIE img on SD, and according to README on documentation,
official touchscreen was enabled as follows:

DCrWuRPUIAE17z02.jpg (51.1 KiB) Viewed 304 times
so, the touchscreen will not work on other Raspbian WHEEZY based distributions?

If the touchscreen is working on your Pi2 with Wheezy, then it should work on the Pi B too provided you add that extra bit to config.txt.

What possible reasons do you have for sticking with "ancient old, unsupported, unsupportable" Wheezy? Note: some of the final versions of Wheezy did have the touch screen support.

The time to upgrade is NOW!
