no preview problem

I am interfacing with the Pi using VNC.The camera preview doesn't show up in both raspivid and raspistill.

oh,thank you,searched around and found it doesn't work on VNC,didn't expect the VNC to be a problem

it's a preview,
done by the hardware,
at a low level , so what is displayed on the hdmi output has the camera image on it ,
