FPS problem...

Sun Jan 04, 2015 4:51 pm

Hi all,

I am having a right headache with the raspivid control. I am using a PIR to trigger my camera board to start a 10 second video. This all works very well and I get a nice .h264 file appear on the file system.

Problem is that when I convert the video using ffmpeg the video is way too fast and is over in just 1 second. I am specifying the frame rate in both raspivid and ffmpeg. I have also tried using much lower frame rates with no luck.

Here are my settings for Raspivid & ffmpeg:

Code: Select all

raspivid -hf -vf -o name_of_file.h264 -t 10000 -fps 25

Code: Select all

ffmpeg -r 25 -i name_of_file.h264 -vcodec copy name_of_file.mp4
Pleeeeaasasssee can someone tell where where I am going wrong???

Andy :-D

Don't worry people I managed to sort it. It has nothing to do with the Raspicam. It was something to do with ffmpeg.

I found out that by changing the code to use 'avconv' instead worked perfectly.

Code: Select all

avconv -r 30 -i name_of_file.h264 [blah blah blah]
The code is the same it is literally just changing the program name from 'ffmpeg' to 'avconv'.
