Camera shuts off in a second

Sun Jan 05, 2014 5:11 am

I have a 512 MB model B board with a camera board. I have previously streamed video without any problems. Today I tried streaming video using netcat, but the camera would start and shut off in less than a second. I thought that the '-t 999999' part may be causing a problem, but it records video with raspivid without any problems for any length of time I specify. So I guess it's a problem with netcat. What may be going wrong and can you suggest any fixes? The Pi does not crash, and records video too, so I ruled out power issues.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, I'm running raspbian.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo rpi-update
reboot

There were some specific fixes for the camera in the firmware update last week.

The problem persists. I don't understand what broke it in the first place. It used to work fine a couple weeks ago.

I got it working. It was rather silly. It turns out that I have to get netcat running on my machine before I start transmitting from the Pi.
