raspivid stream times out

Thu Dec 05, 2013 11:26 pm

Hi Guys

I am using the rpi camera for a live monitoring stream for a piece of machinery. I need to be able to log in once an hour or so and check everything is ok.

I've got a working stream set up. But for some reason it times out after about 1 hour. Here is the command I am using:

Code: Select all

raspivid -o - -t 9999999 -w 800 -h 600 -fps 28 --hflip | cvlc -vvv stream:///dev/std$
I though the 9999999 meant that it would be infinite? Or maybe I got that wrong?

If I do PS X it look like it's still running, but I can't connect to it

Code: Select all

 2717 ? Sl 66:27 /usr/bin/vlc -I dummy -vvv stream:///dev/stdin --sout #standard{access=http,mux=ts,dst=:8888} :demux=h264
 2765 ? Sl 78:41 /usr/bin/vlc -I dummy -vvv stream:///dev/stdin --sout #standard{access=http,mux=ts,dst=:8888} :demux=h264
I usually kill the PID and re-run the raspivid command. But it's annoying that I have to do that each time I log in.

Any ideas?

You can set -t 0 to disable the timeout.
