Mplayer slow motion

I'm trying to stream video from my camera board equipped pi to my windows PC. I've used the mplayer/netcat solution described on http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/tag/camera-board but am having problems. Either the video does not start (just keeps saying "Cache empty, consider increasing cache and/or -cache-min [performance issue]") or the video stream starts but in slow motion. I've got it set up with the camera looking at my watch and in the mplayer window the second hand only ticks every 5 seconds

I would have thought it would be problems with the network speed but I'm using wireless-n and can stream HD video without problems. I'm only trying to do 10 frames per second of 320x240. Any ideas on what I can try?

My pi is running headless using SSH, only accessories plugged in are a Wipi adaptor and the pi camera.

The command I'm using to start the stream on the pi is:

Code: Select all

sudo raspivid -w 320 -h 240 -t 999999 --hflip -o - | nc 192.168.0.103 5001
The command I'm using to receive the stream on my windows pc is:

Code: Select all

c:\NetCat\nc64.exe -L -p 5001 | c:\Mplayer\mplayer.exe -cache 1024 -fps 10 -
When I connect the output I get on the windows pc before the mplayer window opens is:

Code: Select all

C:\Mplayer>c:\NetCat\nc64.exe -L -p 5001 | c:\Mplayer\mplayer.exe -cache 1024
-fps 10 -
