hi all....

So camera turned up today, installed hardware, updated software. All great.

Apart from the link in the instructions to mplayer. This points to a powerpc version of mplayer. this wont work on my machine which is a new one ( I think all machines in the last few years wont work with this?)

I do have vlc installed though. does anyone know if I can stream to this?

I have taken pictures with the cam, and created videos etc.

Its just this final piece of the picture before I have the world most complex baby monitor.

Any help really appreciated.

P.s. the video and picture quality is way in excess of what i expected !!

I used brew to download mplayer, and then seeing as the Mac streaming instructions aren't correct for the nc command, I used the following:

nc -l 5001 | mplayer -fps 31 -cache 1024 -

It all worked a treat on my MacBook Air 2012

What is brew and how does one use it to download mplayer?

I tried searching but didn't find anything to point me in the right direction, I'd be very grateful if anyone could help.

Many thanks.

its on the webpage.

go the the brew website at : http://mxcl.github.io/homebrew/

there you will see that it tells you to run the following command in your mac terminal :
ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.github.com/mxcl/homebrew/go)"

when its installed (it took a while on my machine)

type: brew install mplayer

thats it. easy

I still havent managed to get mplayer to talk with my raspi though

ok so now mplayer seems to have installed, and ive followed all the instructions.

The raspberry pi appears to be streaming (I.e. the light comes on), but I dont think data is coming through. Ive turned off the firewall on my mac, and still no joy.
after a little while, the raspberry pi just hangs.

Im not sre what to do now. I checked the voltage acros tp1 and tp2, and its reporting 4.88 v which is within tolerance it think.

Any advice welcome
