got a camera yesterday from cpc,
needed to get it working at much shorter distances, which seems to be doable using similar tricks to those used for smartphones.
I taped the camera to a cheap eyeglass (jewellers 'loupe'), not sure about the magnification factor, and stuck it to a ruler (I also taped over the red LED, which was strongly reflected in the eyeglass). These eyeglasses can be bought for a pound or two. As can be seen from the pictures, the focus seems to be best at about 10-12 cm. There are some pictures of a £1 coin taken at various distances, with the coin slightly tilted (these pictures are at lower resolution than the original jpgs to get them below the filesize limit for attachments). I have sent off for a set of these plastic eye glasses which are supposed to have various magnifications and will see what happens.
anyone tried anything similar?
