HQ camera 222° lens

Sat May 23, 2020 5:11 pm

Hello everybody! I have tried to put a lens 222° to HQ camera, as you see on the picture. IR filter was removed and now I am waiting for clear sky to test it. Have you tried anything like that?

Yes, I am actually working wit the RPi camera v2 together with a 220° Entaniya lens.
From my experience it works quite well for my requirements.
Are you covering the lens and camera with a plastic dome or so?

Wow that looks really cool. It looks like you managed to retrofit an M12 lens mount on to the HQ camera, any tips? What kind of lens are you using?

I bought a black metal (11$) C/CS to M12 mount adapter (locally for fast delivery), <3$ on aliexpress:

60s exprosure and ISO 100 I'm still testing .. I will try the photo on a higher iso but the quality of the pictures surprises me a lot :)
I will make a cover for the module. It is in the testing phase.

Can you please show the exact commands you used?
There is a dispute on whether -ISO can have an effect with "-ex off":

Hi, I used this command

raspistill -md 3 -ss 60000000 -ISO 600 -o long_exposure.jpg

This photo is on the command raspistill -md 3 -ss 6000000 -ISO 2000 -o long_exposure.jpg

Interesting -- I have seen these circles with higher ISO values as well (I think to have read that maximal ISO is 800).
For my lens the circles turned out to be dirt on the lens (finger touch, ...).
After cleaning the lens the circle are gone.

Yes, I cleaned the lens today so I'm curious ... ISO according to exif is really 2000

I was not successful to capture stars with my 1/2.5" 4mm CS lens sofar.
But I successfully focused last night on the moon with new raspistill "--focus" option.
Unfortunately after that clouds always at least partially covered the moon.
I was surprised that 60s exposure capture seems to be able to "see through" the clouds.
At the time I captured that 12MP frame, I was not able to see full moon.
Here is cut out unmodified part (the moon did fit into raspistill focus rectangle completely):

P.S:
I forgot to mention, that "raspistill --focus -t 0" did not allow to see the moon.
I added 2s shutter time, then focusing was easy:

Code: Select all

raspistill --focus -t 0 --shutter 2000000

Very good pictures!
What is the best way to undistort images captured through a 220° fish-eye lens like the ones above?

thank you for sharing these. what is the make/model of the lens you're using?

have you made any images during the day with an infrared pass / visible light blocking filter (between the lens and sensor)? do you know how well it performs photographing infrared light (and if there are any hotspots)?

Yes, and I also wrote an ASCOM driver for it, see: https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/7071 ... om-driver/
