Auto Exposure for Raspi HQ Cam

Thu May 14, 2020 1:31 pm

I want to use the new HQ cam for longtime timelapses. But how can I set automaticly the exposure? At day this works, but in night I have to change the raspistill settings to different values. Even in the sunset/sunrise time these settings changes from picture to picture.
Maybe there is a tool which can analyse the last picture taken with the cam and based on the values of the picture (too dark/bright) I can change the -ss settings in my raspistill command.
Any idea how I can solve this?

It seems to me that this tool exists, have you tried -ex auto ?
This will automatically adjust the shutter speed
However, the exposure will vary during the timelapse sequence
You may need to adjust other parameters (iso, fps, ...)
